Defining Tolerance
Humans always experience a set of emotions ,may it be being sad ,happy ,excited or aggressive at any time in life. When we hear the word ‘emotion’ we mainly think about joy ,sorrow or displeasure. But there are many other emotions in human nature that we experience from time to time but do not take them seriously. This can sometimes lead to inappropriate behaviour and abrupt nature. One such emotion is Tolerance. At sometimes we can get a grip over it and sometimes not. Let us discover in brief.
Defining Tolerance
Tolerance is usually defined as patience ,accepting and understanding different people or situations. One should have patience to listen to others ,accept their opinions and understand their view of point. It is the act of enduring practices that are not related to you or you don't approve of.Valuing differences, bridging cultural gaps, rejecting unfair stereotypes, discovering common ground, and creating new bonds are all the good deeds you do by being tolerant in nature. It is essential to live a healthy life. If you feel jealous over others success and not being able to appreciate their work, you cannot expect them to treat you the way you would like
INTOLERANCE
Not being able to tolerate others behaviour towards you and getting irritated too easily can define that you're being intolerant in nature. Intolerance leads to most of the disasters. Intolerant people become judgemental and cruel. It is the faliure to appreciate and respect opinions, practices and beliefs of others. It is refusal to be fair minded. It does not allow people to live unity, without discrimination, freedom and other social rights. In the society, intolerance is born through caste, culture, gender, religion and other unmanageable works.According to William Yuri's article, "Tolerance not only allows one to live with each other or is indifferent in the case of injustice, but shows honour and necessary humanity for every person." Losing the ability to respect others also takes away your respect.
HOW TO DEAL WITH INTOLERANCE?
◕ We should encourage tolerance and try to listen to opinions of others. Try to listen more to people around you and speak suitable and less. Learn about the culture of people around you . Education is one of the best ways to prevent intolerance , by revealing similarities between people and spreading a healthy respect for difference.
◕ In most of the cases intolerance is due to lack in interest in the person and thus getting irritated easily. You should listen to their opinion and try to communicate with them. Try to learn about culture, religion and their positive effects.
◕ Be cheerful and show mindfulness and activeness in harsh situations.
IMPORTANCE OF TOLERANCE
π It is very highly useful quality and basic principle of good manners. We can do justice in society by analysing different opinions. We must be tolerant to the views however bitter that may be. Tolerance can also be used as a weapon to defeat a person by your patience and acceptance.
π It helps people to live together peacefully.Displaying tolerance for failure in decision making is an effective way for a leader to drive extraordinary long term results.
WHERE NOT TO TOLERATE?
➸Tolerance is not meant to encourage the weak-kneed attitude towards life. It has a limit beyond which it can be a crime too. it is a virtue when it comes to morality and good cause of life. We should not tolerate against fundamental principles.
➸If we tolerate the evil our best self goes down and under. We should never tolerate moral corruption, financial and political dishonesty and social wrongs. Never be complaisant against fundamental rights or national integrity on the forces of progress in society.
